Wall Petals

2024
Nylon textile, epoxy resin, fiberglass, light fixture

Light objects and sculptures made from hardened textile.

This project draws inspiration from water lily petals (Lumme), and expresses the character of the Nymphaea plant- its scientific name referencing a sacred space in nature, dedicated to nymphs to worship a natural monument such as a tree or a rock. By placing this flower in a domestic setting on the white walls of interiors, I seek for both a harmony and contrast between our standardised domestic spaces, and the nature of this mythological plant I always encountered in summertime blooming by the lake of my family cottage in central Finland.
